Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a sacred and breathtaking journey that takes you to the holy Gosaikunda Lake, a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. The trek also takes you to the serene Gosaikunda Lake, which is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva himself. Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is the perfect trek to explore untouched natural beauty and study more about Tibetan Buddhist Culture and Rituals with local Sherpa and Tamang community. Gosaikunda is a famous holy lake where both Buddhists and Hindus pay equal respects as per their respected myths.
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek starts from Kathmandu with a drive to Syafru or Syabru Besi. The hike takes the place from Syabru Besi for another 12 days to arrive back at Kathmandu through Melamchi Pul. Langtang is a perfect place for peace seeker, exploring natural, cultural heritages along with pilgrimage places of both Hindus and Buddhists, and also the trip provides you an opportunity to live like a local in Tamang and Sherpa villages. You will have a chance to explore local rituals, lifestyle and endangered wildlife in Langtang National Park, a national conservation area. Being so closed with holy mountains, glaciers, forests, flowers, rivers, lakes, ponds and many other things assist you to enjoy more in this trip.
On the way of Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, you will find many monasteries, temples some of them are very old monasteries. You will find typical ethnic settlement villages. Walking along in the heavy forests of Rhododendrons and Bamboos, being in the lap of holy mountains, sitting in the bank of serene lakes make you feel like you really are in a heaven. If you are so lucky, you can see the Red panda and many other endangered animals just in front of you inside the Langtang National Park.
You can taste fresh Yak cheese at Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful ethnic Sherpa village. You can feel a mini Tibet in these typical villages as they practice same culture and rituals which directly reflects in their daily lifestyle.

Detail Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu airport and Transfer to the Hotel
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our airport representative will greet you with khada (typical traditional Tibetian/Nepali scaff using for greetings) and escort you to the hotel. In the afternoon, you can take rest or explore the streets of Thamel nearby your hotel. In the evening, we will organize a short pre-trip meeting and introduce you with your trekking guide, who will brief you about the preparations to be done for the trip. Overnight at Hotel.
Drive to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu 6-7 hrs drive
After breakfast in Kathmandu, you will drive to Syabrubesi which takes about 7 hours via luxury tourist bus. Syabrubesi lies 49.6 km north from Kathmandu valley. You will drive alongside Trishuli River and reach Dhunche. After crossing Dhunche, you will then reach to Syabrubesi. On the way you will be rewarded with the stunning view of Ganesh Himal, green hills, traditional settlements of various ethnic groups and paddy fields.

Trek to Lama Hotel from Syabrubesi, 4-5 hours
After breakfast in Syabrubesi, you will proceed to Lama Hotel. You will follow the trail that ascends to Langtang Khola Bridge via green lush forest exploring various flora and fauna. Your trail follows Langtang Khola and takes you to Rimche at an altitude of 2400m. Again you’ll follow the steep trail that leads to Lama Hotel.

Trek to Mundu from Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
After your breakfast in Lama Hotel we start the trek towards Mundu. It takes around 6 hours to reach to Mundu from Lama Hotel. Mundu is a small village of Langtang. We stay at Mundu (3,550 m) today.
Trek to Kyanjing RI (4,773 m)from Mundu and back to Kyanjing Gompa , 7-8 hours
Today we start our trek towards Kyanging Ri after our breakfast in Mundu. We can see the Kyanjing Gompa and the dramatic icefall following from Langtang Lirung, after crossing Laja Khola, a stream and then little climbing to a viewpoint. We will hike up to Kyanjing Ri (4,773m) and back to Kyanjing Gompa (3,798m). Overnight stay at Kyanjing Gompa.
Exploring Kyangjuma Gompa and climb to Chorkari RI (5,050m) & back to Kyangjuma Gompa, 7 hours
Today is your rest day. After breakfast we start our exploration of Kyangjuma Gompa and climb up to 5,050 m height of Chorkari Ri. This is the one of the highest famous places of this trek. You can taste the Yak Cheese at local factory. Snow-capped towered mountains look laughing at you just beside you from this point. Visiting monasteries give you more information and clarifications of Buddhism society, culture, rituals and daily lifestyle of local people. Overnight at your guest house in Kyanjing Ri.
Trek to Lama Hotel from Kyanjin Gompa, 5-6 hours
After your breakfast, we come back downhill to Lama Hotel where we stayed in our third day of this trek. We again can see the mountains while coming down the trails. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.
Trek to Thulo Syabru from Lama Hotel , 5-6 hours
After the breakfast, we start our trek to the river and reach Thulo Syabru after crossing the river. You can see attractive view of Mount Langtang and other many peaks closely. Overnight stay at guest house in Thulo Syabru.
Trek to Shin Gompa from Thulo Syabru, 4-5 hours
Yesterday we were at 2,235 m height and today we will reach at 3330 m height of Shin Gompa. The trek will start after the breakfast as usual. While climbing up to more than 1000 m, we can see Dimsa village, rhododendron, hemlock and oak forests, Shin Gumba and many more. Shin Gompa is also a famous for cheese, you can taste once again. More than beautiful view of Langtang valley, Langtang Himal can be very clearly. Overnight stay at guest house in Shin Gomba.
Trek from Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda , 5-6 hours
After the breakfast, we start trek climbing towards hill, you can feel cool and relaxed from top hill. On the way to Gosaikunda, beautiful view of mountains of Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, langtang Lirung and Tibetan peaks give you fantastic view. If you are lucky, a clear day opens the curtain to let you watch even mountains of Annapurna range. Langtang Lirung is a beautiful valley.
There are many kunda (s) in Gosaikunda. Kunda means pond or lake in Nepali language. Major three are Saraswatikunda, Bhairab Kunda and Gosaikunda. In some occasions you can feel heavy crowd in these Kundas, many Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims make their way to Gosaikunda from all over the world. Overnight stay at guest house in Gosaikunda.
Trek from Gosaikunda to Laurebina Yak pass (4,610m) and then to Ghopte , 6 hours
After your breakfast in Gosaikunda, The trek climbs through rocky trail through small lakes to the Laurebina Yak La (4610meters). You can see spectacular views of mountains from Manaslu, Ganesh Himal ranges. Langtang Lirung also seems very beautiful today. Overnight stay at Ghopte.
Trek from Ghopte to Mellmchi Gaon, 6-7 hours
After the breakfast, we trek down to the forest and climb again through dry river. You will be surrounded by rhododendron forest once you arrive at Kharka. Melamchi river, forests, ups and down trail, beutiful view of Jugal Himal are other attraction of the day. Overnight stay at guest house in Melamchi Gaon.
Trek to Tarkeghyang from Malemchigaon, 5-7 hours
We will the day again with breakfast and trek to Tarkeghyang. Traditional houses, monasteries make culturally rich to the Helambu region. Overnight at guest house in Tarkeghyang.
Trek to Shermathang from Tarkeghyang , 3-4 hours
Today is second last day of your trek. After the breakfast, we cross a small forest and arrive to the village. Beautiful valley, villages, forests are main attraction of the day. A Sherpa village of Gangyul practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism, the same type of Buddhism which is the national religion of Bhutan. Overnight stay at guest house in Shermathang.
Hike from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul and Drive back to Kathmandu, 3-4 hour’s hike and 2 hrs drive
Today is the last of trek. After the breakfast, we walk down to Melamchi Pul through many Sherpa villages. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach to Melamchi Pul. Melamchi Pul is a local market. We can have the lunch over there and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at your hotel in Kathmandu
Departure or Extend the trip
Today is the last day of your trip. If you would like to stay more in Nepal; you have many options which can be shared with us upon request.
