The title of Mani Rimdu Festival Trek in Everest Region speaks the theme of the trek itself but still, Only few, out of thousands of travelers who have done the trekking in Everest region, do not know Everest Region Trekking is not only famous for beautiful views of high peaks, glaciers, lakes and many other adventure activities related to Himalayan beauty, but is also famous for festival trip. Mani Rimdu Festival is celebrated by the Buddhists at Tengboche Monastery to mark the founding of Buddhism by Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava. Lamas and Sherpas gather at the monastery for five days conducting various tantric process and prayers to ensure the welfare of the world. In Tengboche, Mani Rimdu Festival usually organized between mid-October and mid-November. The dates for Mani Rimdu are set with reference to the Tibetan Lunar Calander. The head lama at the Tyangboche Monastery announces the dates for the festival.

Tengboche arrives on your 4th day of your regular Everest Base Camp Trek at altitude of 3,870m/12,696ft, after walking of 6-7 hours from Namche Bazar so this Trek can be combined or extended up Everest Base Camp and Kalapaththar ( The only place in Nepal, from where, Mount Everest can be watched very closely) but if you have short time, you can trek to Tengboche Monastery and observe the Mani Rimdu Festival at Tengboche.

Detail Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu airport and Transfer to the Hotel
"After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our airport representative will greet you with khada (typical traditional Tibetian/Nepali scaff using for greetings) and escort you to the hotel. In the afternoon, you can take rest or explore the streets of Thamel nearby your hotel. In the evening, we will organize a short pre-trip meeting and introduce you with your trekking guide, who will brief you about the preparations to be done for the trip. Overnight at Hotel."
Fly to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla (2840 Meters) and trek to Phakding
"After breakfast, early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel to domestic airport and a short fly of 30-40 minutes take you to Tenzing Hilary airport at Lukla. Then, Crossing Rivers by bridges you will reach to Phakding."
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 Meters) about 5 hours.
"After breakfast, we head to Namche Bazaar. The journey reachs to Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha is the Nepali name of Mount Everest) crossing suspension bridges and through pine forest. Watching mountains a glimpse of images you will reach Namche Bazar."
Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
"Today is the acclimatization day. It helps to prepare for your body to walk more in further height. Namche Bazar is a Himalayan city so you can get many facilities which you normally get in the town. You shall explore the Namche Bazar and nearby places."
Trek to Tengboche from Namche Bazzar 9km, 6-7hrs.
"Today, our dream place arrives starting our journey from Namche Bazzar. The journey starts walking with great views. You will reach Tengboche seeing wild animals and birds. Visiting monastery will be in the afternoon."

Trek to Dingboche or back to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m
"Today, if you would like to extend your trek to Everest Base Camp then we walk to Dingboche or we will back to Namche Bazaar to return back. It will take around 6 hours to returned back to Namche. Overnight at Guest house."
Trek from Namche Bazaar(3440m/11285ft) to Lukla (2,845m/9333ft); 19km, 8-9hrs.
"Now you have arrived to comfortable places in altitudes. You will visit farming villages on your way to Lukla and now your porters will say you good bye after reaching Lukla, climbing a 700 meters slope trail."
A 30-35 minutes return flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
"After having breakfast early in the morning, you will take your return flight to Kathmandu from Lukla and transfer to your hotel. It’s a rest day but you may visit in local market, depending on your mood and arrival time from Lukla. Tomorrow will be sightseeing day in Kathmandu."
Rest Day
"Lukla get occasional flight cancel due to weather condition. This may cause missing your international flight. If we arrive at Kathmandu on time, we may proceed for Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour."
Departure or Extend the trip
"Today is the last day of your trip. If you would like to stay more in Nepal; you have many options which can be shared with us upon request. Else, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure. We thank you for the opportunity of being your travel partner and wish to serve you in your next vacation. Have a nice journey."
